The Abacus Bee is the only national abacus contest in the United States for students who are blind or low vision. The competition was created to encourage students to practice their math skills. Open to blind and low vision students ages 5-21 Contestants can use an abacus, mental math, finger math, and / or manipulatives Contests available in braille and large print The event also includes a pop up makerspace with the Mountain Lakes Public Library Makerspace! For non-vision related accommodations, please email the Digital Accessibility team at least one week in advance. We are seeking University student and staff volunteers for the bee. If you are a staff member who holds an IAAP (CPACC, WAS, CPWA) certificate, you may earn professional development hours. To volunteer, please email the Digital Accessibility team.
