Event Description

This class introduces disability and digital accessibility. It is designed for staff who anyone who edits websites or creates accessible digital content.

The class is co-taught with colleagues from the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired. They will demonstrate using a screen reader to navigate a website, and help participants explore a number of other assistive technologies commonly used by people who are blind or low vision.

Participants will leave this class with a better understanding of the challenges people with disabilities encounter when accessing digital information, and learn what small adjustments they can make to their own content to help alleviate some of the most common digital barriers that prevent people with disabilities from accessing information on the web and other digital environments.

This class (along with Practical Steps for Creating Accessible Website Content) is required before taking How to Test for Accessibility.
