Being knowledgeable about accessibility is the first step to motivating change. Making our campus - both the virtual and physical aspects - accessible to all helps to fulfil the mission of the University. This course has provided me with an opportunity to explore this topic, in depth, so that I can apply what I’ve learned to various aspects of my job and interactions with others on campus.

On a personal note, I hadn’t really thought collectively about the number of people in my life with a disability, or who are touched very directly by someone with a disability. The definition of disability that we have been working with is broader that I had considered (for example my father’s slight, but growing, hearing loss) and I am now much more aware of how many people are affected and of how to make things more accessible for them.
